Quinta Picouto de Cima is located in Gominhães, a parish in the municipality of Guimarães, about a 10-minute drive from the historic centre — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the closest vineyard to those who are visiting the city.

Here, the tasting doesn’t take place at some anonymous counter: it is the family themselves – who produce every bottle – who guide you through the winery and share the story of three generations dedicated to the only wine in the world known as ‘verde’.

From the centre of Guimarães to our door

About 10 minutes drive from the historic centre of Guimarães. Braga is about 30 minutes away (just over 20 km on the N101) and Porto is about 50 minutes away (~50 km, on the A3/A7). Free parking on the property.

How far is the estate from the centre of Guimarães?
About 10-minute drive. The estate is located in Gominhães, a parish in the municipality of Guimarães, and the historic centre — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — is right next door.
Can you combine the visit to the estate with a day in Guimarães?
It does, and it is the most common program. The wine tasting lasts about an hour and a half, with a tour of the vineyard and a visit to the winery, which leaves the rest of the day free for the historic centre.
Can I take part in a Vinho Verde tasting at the vineyard?
Yes. We offer guided Vinho Verde tastings including a tour of the winery and Minho-style snacks, hosted by the family who produce each bottle. Tastings are by prior booking only.
Do you have accommodation on the estate?
Yes. We have a a country cottage surrounded by vineyards — ideal for anyone who wants to stay amongst the vineyards and visit Guimarães and the Minho region.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. Reservations are made on the website. Each page has a booking form with available dates: Wine tastings, Experiences e Accommodation. We respond by phone or email, usually within a few hours and up to a maximum of 24 hours.
Do they speak English?
Yes. We welcome visitors in Portuguese, English and Spanish. The website is translated into French and German, but the tour is not guided in these languages.
